In an incident that disrupted late-night traffic, California Highway Patrol (CHP) Hollister-Gilroy officers clamped down on an illegal street racing event on US-101. In a post from their official social media account, CHP Hollister-Gilroy disclosed that last Saturday, officers were called to the scene near Coyote Creek Golf Drive after receiving multiple reports of vehicles blocking the southbound lanes to facilitate street racing.
The officers arrived at approximately 11:37 PM to find the racers in action, with cars seen accelerating to speeds topping 135 MPH. This risky display of speed and the disregard for safety laws led to prompt action by the CHP, who arrested two drivers involved in the high-speed escapade.
Their vehicles were towed from the scene due to the unlawful activity.
