Residents of Clark County with an interest in sustainable living have a shot at free certification training, thanks to the local Composter Recycler program. Kicking off on January 29, the course runs for eight weeks, equipping locals with knowledge and tools to embrace low-waste lifestyles. Participants will dive into the intricacies of composting, green cleaning, and nailing the recycling game right at home.
Training sessions are scheduled for Wednesday evenings, between 6:30 and 8 pm at Waste Connections of Washington, located at 9411 NE 94th Ave., in Vancouver. Those who complete the course will not only be crowned certified Composter Recycler volunteers but will also take home a suite of eco-friendly peripherals including a compost bin, worm bin, and more, to practically implement the sustainability skills learned. Scheduled topics range from "Backyard Composting" to "Worm Bin Composting," all the way to volunteer orientation. Participants will enrich their knowledge with visits to the transfer station and some hands-on composting field training.
Interested residents can apply for a seat in the program by visiting the Composter Recycler website. The Clark County program aims to promote low-waste living and contains the spread of recycling misinformation. In doing so, it creates a healthier, greener community environment. Confirmation of participation will follow the application process.
For a complete rundown of training dates and themes—from “Curbside Recycling Done Right" to the exploratory sessions on "Beyond Curbside Recycling”—prospective participants are encouraged to check out the online schedule. While the program is free, the knowledge imparted has the power to make a lasting impact on both individual practices and the collective health of the community.
