A stroke of luck has graced a resident from Cobb County in Marietta with a $100,000 windfall, as reported by Atlanta News First. The fortunate winner's ticket for the Powerball drawing on January 4, which they purchased via the Georgia Lottery mobile app, hit on all but one of the white-ball numbers and the all-important Powerball number.
The purchase was further sweetened by the player's wise choice to opt for the Power Play feature – this decision successfully doubling their initial $50,000 prize to the grand sum of $100,000; the Georgia Lottery confirmed this and the ticket's white-ball numbers for the drawing were 26-32-43-54-56 with the Powerball of 24 despite the long odds accompanying such a stroke of luck, the winner's name remains unpublished and they have a total of 180 days from the draw date to claim their bounty.
The Powerball game, held regularly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 11 p.m., has become a beacon of hope for many aspiring to turn their fortunes around with the quick purchase of a ticket. According to the Marietta Daily Journal, Powerball players may continue to test their luck in the upcoming drawing which, as of the latest update, boasts an estimated jackpot of a whopping $220 million.
