Collin County, known for its bustling growth and transformation, has hired a new Elections Administrator to guide its future electoral proceedings. Kaleb Breaux, who succeeds Bruce Sherbet, who retired last December, has a track record of commitment to transparency, accessibility, and overall trust in the voting process. According to Collin County, his unanimous selection reflects confidence in his abilities that crosses party lines—a feat not often seen in these divided times.
Breaux is not new to the complexities of elections, having entered the scene in 2006 as an elections coordinator for the Jefferson County Clerk's office. Initially tasked with ballot design, Breaux's zeal for the electoral system's intricacies quickly grew, leading him on a robust 19-year career that straddled both government service and private endeavor. "Through the years, I have come to love the challenges that elections bring and the people who resolve those challenges," Breaux said in a statement highlighted by Collin County releases.
As Breaux takes up the mantle, he doesn't disregard the foundation laid by his predecessor, noting Sherbet's role in leaving the department in exceptional shape. "I don’t feel a need to completely change any one of our processes just to say, ‘I did that.’ Instead, I’m looking forward to making small tweaks to improve efficiency and excellence," he articulated during an interview, as detailed by Collin County. With specific goals, including addressing poll worker recruitment and elevating public knowledge of election procedures, Breaux is set on fortifying an already steadfast system.
