The call has been put out for local residents ready to step into roles that could guide the city's growth and policies. There are several openings on key boards and commissions that touch on a broad range of topics, from public safety to environmental policy, cultural affairs to housing, and more.
These varied boards and commissions are inviting members of the Commerce City community to contribute their perspectives and skills. Whether you're looking to ensure public safety, champion diversity, support the arts, or promote sustainable environmental practices, there's a place for civic-minded individuals. According to the City of Commerce City, "These groups offer a variety of roles and responsibilities, each with its own term lengths, membership sizes, qualifications, and meeting schedules. Most meet only once per month."
Open seats this quarter are available in the Citizens Public Safety Advisory Board, Cultural Council, and various others. Each board or commission provides a unique opportunity to serve your community and advise the city on crucial matters. The Derby Review Board, for example, assesses neighborhood developments while the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Commission is tasked with fostering a more inclusive community. To reflect the city's vibrancy, these bodies echo the voices and concerns of the people living in Commerce City.
The call is open to all residents with a deadline to apply by Friday, Jan. 17. The selection process will involve interviews conducted via Zoom to be held on Saturday, Jan. 25. Anyone interested in playing a part in their community's direction and policies are encouraged to apply and with most boards meeting just once a month, the commitment is designed to be manageable alongside other responsibilities.
