On Thursday in Lawrence, Massachusetts, a woman became trapped under her car while delivering flowers on Bennington Street. The car had rolled onto her leg after not being fully secured, according to NBC Boston.
Witnesses quickly came together to lift a car off a woman trapped underneath. “And immediately I grabbed and started to lift the car, and then more people joined me,” Anthony Burgos recalled, as about a dozen people assisted with the rescue. The woman, who suffered leg injuries, was taken to the hospital with an optimistic prognosis. Elvis Burgos said, “I couldn't imagine the pain she felt. The car weighed so much to be on one leg and an old lady, fragile bones and stuff,” as reported by CBS News Boston.
Jenny Minaya said, “A lot of people talk bad about Lawrence but in reality, we're all a family here.” This was evident when residents came together to help a woman trapped under a car. Elvis Burgos, one of the people who helped, remarked, “It's just the right thing to do so, I don't think I'm a hero.” The community’s response was clear: “we're here for her, for anything,” as stated by CBS News Boston.
