As the clock struck midnight and heralded the arrival of 2025, Denver hospitals celebrated the births of the first newborns of the year, marking a joyous beginning to the new annum. Three hospitals, Denver Health, HCA HealthONE Rose, and Saint Joseph Hospital, were at the forefront, welcoming these tiny torchbearers of hope into our world, according to KDVR.
The first baby to grace Denver Health arrived at 1:49 a.m., and as part of the celebration, the parents received an extraordinary gift of 2,025 diapers, symbolizing the year of birth and more practically, alleviating some of the immediate burdens that come with newborn care, as reported by 9NEWS. Angelica Cambero Grisales and Jesus Arellano Sanchez, the elated parents of the child spoke to the generosity and support of the Denver Health staff, "I’m grateful to Denver Health for their receptivity and dedication in everything they do, from the administrative and medical teams to everyone in general,” Cambero Grisales conveyed their heartfelt thanks.
Denver Health stands as a pivotal institution in the region, with one-third of all Denver's babies being born within its walls, and the hospital has continuously set new records, delivering 3,841 babies in 2023 and more than 4,300 in 2024. CBS News Colorado reported that the obstetrics department in Pavilion C, where so many of these new citizens began their journey, is a hive of medical expertise and compassionate care.
In a gesture that extends beyond celebratory gifts, Denver Health's Newborns in Need program actively amasses critical baby gear for families in need, a communal effort that underscores the hospital's commitment to supporting not just the affluent or the lucky but every new life that commences its story within its halls, ensuring a baseline of care and compassion that ought to be given in any society that dares call itself civilized.
