
The Berkeley Police Department is currently investigating a homicide in Southwest Berkeley after a woman was fatally stabbed and two men were seriously injured. The incident occurred on January 18 in the 1300 block of Russell Street. The clash reportedly began with a confrontation over a stolen vehicle, leading to the violence, as per the Berkeley Police Department.
According to Berkeley Police, the call came in shortly before 12:30 p.m. after a delivery van owner, whose vehicle had been stolen while delivering packages in Oakland, tracked down his van to a Berkeley neighborhood. An altercation ensued when he attempted to retrieve his vehicle, resulting in multiple stabbings. Berkeley Police soon arrived to find the three individuals with stab wounds. The woman was discovered a block and a half from where the altercation took place and was transported to a local trauma hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The subsequent investigation has led to charges of murder and attempted murder against Raymond Johnson of Downey, CA.
