An early morning blaze tore through a home on E Washington Ave in Escondido, leaving seven residents without a place to live. The Escondido Fire Department responded to the fire, which broke out at around 3:23 AM on a day not specified. According to a social media post by the Escondido Firefighters, crews encountered a well-involved home with fire coming from the front of the structure.
Engines arrived at 1536 E Washington Ave and found the fire had already taken hold of the residence. Firefighters fought the blaze, containing it within approximately 30 minutes. Despite the efficiency of the crews entering the structure to search for occupants and douse the flames, the fire had already caused major damage by the time they secured it. In the incident, "4 adults and 3 children were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross," as detailed by the Escondido Firefighters.
While the Escondido Police Department shut down Washington Ave to ensure safety for the emergency crews, SDGE worked to secure utilities to the ravaged property. Miraculously, despite the extensive damage to the home, no injuries were reported. The current investigation into the fire's cause is ongoing, with details yet to emerge about how the devastating event began.
