This morning, commuters on westbound Interstate 275 faced significant delays following a rollover crash near the I-74 split in Hamilton County. The accident involved a vehicle flipping onto its roof, which occurred around 3:50 a.m. and led to the temporary highway closure. At one point during the incident, the highway was entirely closed for about an hour before one lane reopened to traffic, FOX19 reported.
Initial emergency communications revealed that at least one person had been trapped inside the overturned vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. "two people were taken to UC Medical Center," as confirmed by the dispatch supervisor and noted by Local12. The condition of those involved in the crash has not been disclosed.
As emergency responders from multiple Hamilton County police and fire departments worked on the scene, significant traffic backlogs were reported. WLWT advised motorists to seek alternative routes, as the left-hand lanes remained closed, with only one lane back open for some time following the incident. All lanes have been reopened, but residual delays still affect the morning commute.
Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, and authorities have not yet released further details on the events leading up to the crash. The highway's reopening has eased the traffic conditions, relieving many drivers who had been caught in the extensive delays brought on by the early morning rollover, according to the reports from FOX19, WLWT, and Local 12.
