The Eden Prairie Community Center is kicking off the new year with a lineup of activities aimed at promoting health and togetherness. For those looking to stick to their fitness resolutions, the center provides updated guidelines on how to make the most of the Fitness Center during this winter season. According to City of Eden Prairie announcement, it's important to remember to carry your membership card, avoid wearing outdoor shoes to protect the equipment, and to store personal items in the locker room to avoid clutter and accidents.
Adding a dash of tranquility to its roster, the center is hosting a "Sound Bath" event on January 5th, where participants age 12 and over can indulge in a "meditative experience that uses intentional sound to relax and restore both body and mind." Family fun rises to the surface with the "Dive-In Movie" night featuring Disney's "The Little Mermaid," welcoming swimmers of all ages on January 4th and an inflatable obstacle course challenge on January 11th for those ages 8 and up.
The facility hasn't forgotten its members with special needs, with sensory-friendly open swimming sessions devoid of music, water features and whistle-blowing lifeguards—except, in case of emergency—scheduled for January 12th and 26th. These tailored experiences demonstrate the community center's inclusive approach to recreation. Moreover, with new weight room equipment nearly ready for use, the center is poised to help many hit their fitness targets with vigor.
The winter season isn't merely about indoors exertion. The Eden Prairie Parks and Recreation's winter program includes an array of activities, from Candlelight Yin Yoga to the whimsically titled "Floating Egg Hunt." The entire winter catalog underscores the center's commitment to providing a diverse range of programs to brighten up, the chilliest of days. Notably, certain areas will be subject to temporary closures with the hot tub unavailable from 8–10 p.m. on January 14th and 28th for routine maintenance.
Holiday hours are also in effect, with the community center closing early on December 31st at 5 p.m. and opening for reduced hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on New Year's Day. Those planning to visit later in the month should take note of the high-traffic dates from January 30th to February 2nd due to a hockey tournament.
