The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) has recently elevated its fight against the scourge of drugs with a new high-tech incinerator designed to dispose of confiscated narcotics, as reported by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. Procured in 2021 and now fully operational, the cutting-edge facility is a testament to inter-agency collaboration and is open to other law enforcement through Inter-Governmental Agreements.
A recent haul including 165 pounds of marijuana and 159 plants was incinerated by the Metro Vice Narcotics and Intelligence Unit using this facility, demonstrating its effectiveness and the heightened security in eliminating illegal substances without the past need for extensive transport or the high costs of contracting out the work to private companies, in what EPSO and partners were forced to do previously, leading to a substantial drain on resources. "This facility represents a major step forward in our efforts to combat illegal drug activity and protect our communities," El Paso County Sheriff Joe Roybal stated, as per El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, regarding the cost-efficient and localized solution provided by the incinerator.
With its advanced technology, the EPSO incinerator manages to adhere to strict environmental standards by neutralizing dangerous substances without releasing contamination into our air or waterways.
