El Paso saw a spate of vehicular incidents as police and special traffic investigators responded to multiple accidents over the weekend, including one involving a train and a pedestrian and another on a busy interstate near the downtown area. According to CBS4 Local, officers were called to a crash that occurred on I-10 West at the downtown exit, the aftermath of which was captured on camera showing a vehicle in the parking lot of a downtown hotel accompanied by an El Paso Fire Department ambulance and a fire unit. The collision, it appears, had little effect on the overall traffic flow.
Another report from KTSM indicated that a train and pedestrian were involved in a separate accident on the 4000 block of Nashville Avenue in Central El Paso, the incident resulted in one individual being transported with minor injuries as stated by the El Paso Fire dispatch yet details surrounding the cause and full scope of the incident remains limited at this time. Amid these events, El Paso's Special Traffic Investigators were also summoned to the scene of the I-10 crash in the early hours of Saturday morning, with officials reporting the call came in at 1:48 a.m.
Further details on these incidents are scant, however, the common thread between them is the swift response by local emergency services and city officials. KVIA noted that the Special Traffic Investigators are working to piece together the events of the crash on I-10 West near downtown El Paso, meanwhile, authorities are yet to disclose if there were any additional injuries or what precipitated the collision that involved the train and a pedestrian.
