An El Paso man has been arrested and is facing murder charges in connection with the stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend, Dafne Michelle Davila. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office confirmed that 30-year-old Jorge Albert Chavez has been booked with his bond set at $1 million.
The fatal incident occurred early Sunday morning in a household clouded by domestic violence, a setting all too familiar and yet each time, harboring a new anguish. Deputies arrived at the home on Zinc Place around 3:30 a.m. after receiving a call about the distressing situation. Chavez, the accused, was later apprehended while driving on I-20 in Reeves County, in a coordinated effort that involved the county's Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers, according to KVIA.
Remembered for her even more beautiful soul and with an even bigger heart, Davila has left community members mourning and in shock. A GoFundMe account has been established not only to cover funeral expenses but also as a testament to the life that was taken too soon, and robbed (of) the opportunity to accomplish her goals.
In the wake of this tragedy, El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte has stressed the calamitous impact of domestic violence on the community. "Thanks to the strong collaboration between our partnering agencies, we were able to quickly locate and apprehend the suspect. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please seek help, there are resources available to provide support and safety," he concluded, as obtained by KTSM.
