Details of the crime traced back to a grisly discovery in December 2020, when the body of 21-year-old Diego Barahona Flores was found with multiple stab wounds in Brisbane's area known as "the tubes." It took just over a month for law enforcement, through determined work, to apprehend the suspect, Erick Omar Calderon‐Flores, which was detailed by the Brisbane Police Department. Consequently, Calderon‐Flores's bail had then been set at a staggering $10 million.
Both agencies, the San Mateo County DA and Brisbane Police, collaboratively utilized resources including the Crime Lab and Coroner’s Office to investigate what had quickly become a high-profile homicide case. This joint effort not only expedited the case towards arrest but also underscored the severity of the crime and the diligent pursuit of justice for the victim.
