Escondido Police Department is reaching out to the public for help in identifying a suspect involved in a theft incident that occurred shortly before Christmas last year. According to a social media post from the Escondido Police Department, a purse and personal belongings were taken from a shopper's cart last Monday, at the Garden Pick Market located at 1131 E Washington Avenue.
The victim, distracted momentarily to tend to her child, left her purse unattended, which was when the suspect took the opportunity to swiftly take the cart with the purse inside and leave the store. Detectives are asking anyone with information to come forward and help identify the woman shown in the surveillance footage released. The post requests by Escondido Police Department, "If you have information regarding the identity of the suspect, please contact Detective Shauna Grisler at 760-839-4774 or the EPD Tip Line, 24/7, at 760-743-8477. You may remain anonymous."
Images of the suspect have been circulated online via the Escondido Police Department's official Facebook page in hopes that community members can help apprehend the individual responsible. The police have underscored the importance of community involvement in cases such as this, where quick action may prevent the suspect from possibly perpetrating further incidents.
