A fatal scooter accident on San Pasqual Valley Road claimed the life of Kristen Ryan, a 49-year-old woman from Escondido. The incident, which unfolded near the 1600 block of the road, involved Ryan losing control of her Vespa scooter while navigating a curve and crashing into a rock embankment, as indicated by the San Diego Medical Examiner's Office.
The accident, which occurred last Sunday, prompted bystanders to contact emergency services, and despite being admitted to Palomar Medical Center with significant injuries, Ryan's condition deteriorated and led to her passing. The cause of death was identified as blunt head trauma. The San Diego Medical Examiner confirmed her identity and the details surrounding the events leading to her death, including the fact that she was ejected from the scooter and she was following her husband on another scooter at the time of the crash.
Following the accident, the San Diego Police Department's Traffic Division is investigating, seeking eyewitnesses to gain further insight into the crash circumstances. Officer Buttle, the Watch Commander, stated that the tragic event happened around 5:30 PM, signaling an urgent call to those who might have valuable information regarding the crash, according to Hoodline.
