According to a recent announcement from the University of Cincinnati, two ambitious high school seniors, Sebastian Mejia-Pretto and Joel Berger, have been welcomed into the academic embrace of UC Blue Ash College with opened doors and opportunities. In a fitting accolade to their scholastic achievements, both students boast stellar 4.0 GPAs and are the first to be admitted for the fall 2025 semester, complete with a $6,000 grant to jump-start their first year of college.

Mejia-Pretto, from Fairfield High School, aims to thread a path towards a career in pharmacy. During UC's Decision Day, he was surprised when school administrators called him aside, a moment that unfolded into the revelation of his acceptance and scholarship. "I like UC Blue Ash specifically because they have a low tuition, but also because they have a good pharmacy program," Mejia-Pretto told the University of Cincinnati news outlet. He plans to eventually segue to the UC College of Pharmacy after starting his journey in chemistry on a pre-pharmacy track.

Berger, seizing his aspirations at Lakota West High School, plans to start his collegiate journey in health sciences to become a physician assistant. His family partook in the orchestrated surprise, keeping the secret of his admission and the accompanying grant under wraps. "This was really surprising; it was crazy. What was it, apparently two weeks they knew and didn't tell me?" according to the University of Cincinnati, Berger recounted in shared delight with university representatives. His sister Emily, a former UC Blue Ash student now aiming for a physical therapy career, undoubtedly will serve as a beacon of guidance as he navigates his academic pursuits.

UC Blue Ash is on a trajectory of expansion, touting a roster of more than 50 academic programs and a blossoming student body that surpasses 5,000. Among the fresh fixtures awaiting Berger and Mejia-Pretto is a new atrium set to be completed in the summer, alongside the modernization of Muntz Hall. The new student services wing, purposed to singularly aid students with critical support services, will debut this spring. The environment at UC Blue Ash, nestled within a scenic 135-acre wooden campus, is a testament to the college’s continued commitment to fostering an atmosphere where academic aspirations can be materialized into tangible success.
