A deadly blaze erupted in a home on Mamie Road in Northeast Memphis, claiming the life of one individual and several pets, according to reports from the Memphis Fire Department (MFD). The MFD was summoned to combat the electrical fire that ultimately was proven fatal for the resident. As per Action News 5, when the crews arrived, they were faced with the task of quickly working to extinguish the emergent flames.
The victim was discovered at home alone during the time of the incident, later being pronounced deceased at the scene. FOX13 Memphis reports that officials temporarily blocked off the area surrounding the residence as the investigation and fire suppression efforts were underway. The intensity of the situation was underscored by the MFD's confirmation that the fire had indeed been sparked by an electrical issue.
Simultaneously, another conflagration unfolded at the Turning Pointe Apartments in Whitehaven, leaving multiple families without a residence on the same evening. While the origin of this fire remains under investigation, MFD has ruled the Mamie Road fire accidental.
