
Early Friday morning, a catastrophic event unfolded on Interstate 80 in Minooka where a wrong-way driver collided head-on with a semi tractor-trailer. According to Chicago Sun-Times, the incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. as the errant driver traveled east in the westward lanes near Minooka Road, ultimately crashing into the sizable vehicle.
Tragically, the driver of the car involved was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by ABC7 Chicago. His condition, still absorbed in the aftermath, unknown, the driver of the semi was taken to an area hospital with injuries as a result of the crash.
Following the accident, the westbound stretch of I-80 was closed. With morning light poking through, ABC 7 Chicago noted that the lanes have since reopened after nearly six hours of investigation and cleanup.
