Edgebrook's dining scene was disrupted by a significant emergency late Monday evening, as a restaurant at 125 E. Edgebrook Dr. caught fire causing considerable damage. According to a report from the Houston Fire Department, the incident occurred on January 7, 2025, at around 8:20 p.m. Firefighters faced a challenging scene, with heavy smoke pouring from the establishment upon their arrival.
Efforts to contain the blaze were extensive, involving multiple firefighting teams. There were no reported injuries, as the building was promptly evacuated. However, the monetary loss struck a hefty blow, with damages estimated around $250,000. At this time, while the cause of the fire is still under investigation, the area has seen an increased presence of fire investigators.
The operational response consisted of 39 personnel, sourced from Stations 52, 23, 26, 70, 29, 61, and 24, along with Rescue 42, and Rehab 42. These teams worked to extinguish the fire, clear adjacent businesses of smoke and secure the structure's utilities. In the aftermath, a request was made to bring in food inspectors, and advise was given to the building owner to seek the services of a certified licensed electrician before restoring power.
The impact of the blaze extended beyond the restaurant, causing smoke damage through the connected strip center. HFD's update detailed the measures taken by firefighters to mitigate further losses and outlined the standard safety protocols followed in such events, including control of utilities, and ventilation of affected areas.
