The City of Fort Lauderdale has partnered with David Mancini & Sons to upgrade the stormwater system along SE 7th Street in Rio Vista, a move intended to help manage the water flow more effectively in the neighborhood. According to a City of Fort Lauderdale press release, the project will see a new catch basin installed in place of an old one, alongside a new 16-inch stormwater pipe, and a tidal valve to aid in preventing flooding.
With construction set to begin the week of Monday, residents should expect work to be carried out between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, with late February earmarked as the completion date. While traffic control personnel will be tasked with directing vehicles, restoration of the impacted areas is needed as part of the project upon completion. The schedule, while meticulously planned, is subject to the vagaries of weather and other unforeseen events.
The anticipated traffic impacts during the construction period include traffic control staff assisting with the movement of vehicles near the work site during work hours. In a gesture of coordination, crews will be making contact with neighbors prior to beginning operations that might impinge upon parking access. Motorists are advised to heed the signs posted and to drive cautiously when passing through the construction zone.
The City of Fort Lauderdale extends apologies in advance for any inconvenience the construction may incur and expresses gratitude to the community for its patience.
