St. Louis has officially welcomed Gabriel E. Gore as its new Circuit Attorney in a swearing-in ceremony at the Clyde S. Cahill Courthouse. Appointed earlier by Gov. Mike Parson, Gore stepped into the position following the resignation of Kim Gardner and has now been affirmed through the election process, running unopposed on November 5, 2024. Presiding Judge Christopher E. McGraugh did the honors, signifying a new chapter for the city's legal leadership.
In a statement obtained by the Circuit Attorney's Office, Gore expressed his dedication, "It is an honor to lead this historically revered office and help restore public confidence in the criminal justice system." He further emphasized his commitment "to pursue justice and strive to make St. Louis a safer, more vibrant community for everyone."
Gore's tenure before election has already been notable, earning him multiple accolades. He received the Missouri State University Government Excellence Award and The St. Louis American Person of the Year Award in 2023. The following year, he was honored with The Spirit of Justice Award from the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the Mel Carnahan Public Service Award, and the St. Louis Award in 2024.
Before taking on the role of Circuit Attorney, Gore garnered over two decades of experience in private law practice as a partner at Dowd Bennett LLP. His prior public service roles included Assistant Special Counsel in the high-profile investigation of the Waco, Texas standoff in 1993, Assistant U.S. Attorney, and clerking for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. His previous engagements with civic organizations, ranged from the St. Louis Community Foundation to the Forest Park Forever Board of Directors, the Missouri Supreme Court Advisory Committee, and the Missouri State University Board of Governors.
