The testing infrastructure investments tie into the company's grander vision of evolving flight efficiency as part of the CFM Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines (RISE) program.
JobsOhio's backing is poised not just to stimulate technological prowess but also to generate substantial employment. GE Aerospace aims to create 200 new engineering jobs by the closure of 2028, corresponding to a projected yearly payroll of $16 million. This initiative is expected to bolster the region's economic landscape significantly. In a statement obtained by Local12, the commitment acutely echoes prior assurances to amplify hiring in Greater Cincinnati, explicitly targeting the open-fan engine technology domain.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine recognized the state's rich aviation heritage and expressed confidence in GE Aerospace's endeavors. "Ohio has a storied history of aviation ingenuity dating back to the Wright brothers. GE Aerospace continues to build on that foundation of excellence by developing the next-generation engine products here," DeWine told GE Aerospace. The endorsement by the state government highlights Ohio's legacy and ongoing investment in aviation innovation.
JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef lauded the initiative, as well. "Ohio is the birthplace of aviation and the home of innovation for the aviation industry's future, which is just reinforced by GE Aerospace's additional investment in research and development in Southwest Ohio," he said. Emphasizing the strategic importance of the new positions, Nauseef remarked, "These 200 new jobs will be instrumental in testing and developing more fuel-efficient engines that will power the future of flight, and alongside our partners at REDI Cincinnati, we are proud to have this work being done right here in Ohio," according to the information shared by Cincinnati Business Journal.
