With a career spanning over 25 years within the Georgia Department of Corrections, Yancey has a track record that speaks to his commitment and expertise in the field — his progression from Correctional Officer at Wilcox State Prison to this latest appointment at McRae Women's Facility has him ready to take on the challenges ahead, "Yancey has worked his way up through the ranks and excelled at each position he has held," Commissioner Tyrone Oliver was quoted in a statement, and the confidence is palpable in Oliver's expectation that "his correctional knowledge and unwavering dedication will prove beneficial as he takes on this new role."

Before landing the Warden position, Yancey's journey included promotions to Chief of Security, Unit Manager, and Assistant Warden-Programs and Inmate Services at McRae Correctional Facility, aligning him experiences to understand the inner workings of a correctional facility and management of its diverse population. His move to McRae Women's Facility marks a pivotal point for both Yancey and the institution, which aims for a seamless opening with his experienced guidance steering the transition.

Yancey's professional development includes extensive departmental training which encompasses Basic Correctional Officer Training, Communications/De-escalation Training, and Basic Management Training, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections, these accomplishments reflect a consistent dedication to growth and adherence to best practices within the corrections field, and this latest promotion is not just a testament to Yancey's past but also a nod to the future of McRae WF under his watch.
