The Georgia Department of Corrections has promoted Shawn Sikes to Statewide Transitional Center Coordinator, as announced by Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. In this role, Sikes will oversee the operations of all 13 state transitional centers, focusing on helping ex-offenders reintegrate into society, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

"Sikes has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and gained invaluable correctional knowledge in each role he has held with the agency," said Commissioner Oliver. Sikes began his career at Smith State Prison as a Counselor, and his progression through the ranks has been steady since then, as stated by the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Sikes has advanced through various roles in the correctional field, with a background in Sociology from Georgia Southern University. He has completed several training programs, including Basic Correctional Officer Training and the Warden’s Pre-Command. Now a key member of the Georgia Department of Corrections, he helps manage one of the largest prison systems in the U.S., overseeing 49,000 prisoners and 9,000 employees, with a focus on public safety and rehabilitation.
