In September 2023, Alejandro Hall was driving a Lamborghini Urus at high speed through the streets of Miami. The Georgia man's high-speed escapade met a tragic end on the 79th Street Causeway when his attempt to dodge a Hyundai Elantra sent him careening off course, resulting in the death of 38-year-old Juan Andres Da Costa. According to Local10, Hall, then 24, was found with slurred speech, reeked of alcohol, and police reported spotting two open bottles in the luxury vehicle.

Justice caught up to Hall today as he stood before a Miami-Dade courtroom, where he entered a guilty plea for the myriad of charges against him, which included reckless vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, and driving while license suspended causing death. The crash's aftermath has now led to an 18-year sentence for Hall. In a statement obtained by Local10, Hall's post-prison life will be closely monitored with two years of community control, including six months under GPS surveillance, and an additional five years on probation.

Beyond his prison and probation sentences, Hall is mandated to undergo alcohol abuse training, partake in community service, and make annual donations to the state victims’ assistance fund marking the crash’s anniversary.

A more gristly detail was offered by NBC6, which reported that not only did Hall’s tragic mishap send the Hyundai spinning out of control, but it also ejected Juan Da Costa Berruti from his vehicle, leading him to fatally collide with a streetlight pole. Police body camera footage later revealed Hall's own failed attempt to flee the scene, which ended with his restraint and subsequent arrest.
