Georgia’s own Sen. RaShaun Kemp is taking a step outside the political arena and into the realm of reality TV this week. Kemp, representing South Fulton, and his husband, Dr. Christopher Kemp, are set to appear on the popular home buying show "House Hunters" airing on HGTV tonight. The show is known for giving audiences a peek into the process families go through as they search for their perfect home, and the Kemps’ episode is poised to shine a light on what that journey looks like for a U.S. senator.
Sen. Kemp has opened up about the personal significance of the experience. This journey has been both exciting and challenging,” Sen. Kemp said. “As our family grows and evolves, it’s important to have a home that can adapt to whatever comes our way. Being featured on HGTV’s House Hunters and sharing not only my family but also our journey to finding a home that fits our new roles is something I will never forget,
he shared in a statement obtained by Senate Press.
But for Kemp, this televised home search is more than just personal. He has used the platform to highlight an issue close to his heart and central to many Georgians' lives – affordable housing. With the legislative session underway, Sen. Kemp is advocating for policies to assist more people in securing safe and affordable homes. He stresses the importance of this mission: While we are incredibly grateful for this opportunity, not every Georgian can securely afford a safe home. That’s why we must work this legislative session to make housing more affordable, so every Georgian can find a safe, warm place to raise their family,
Kemp stated, according to Senate Press.
Viewers can tune in to the new episode tonight, at 10:30 p.m. on HGTV.
