Hey, Gilbert locals, if you're looking to do something that's both community-centric and educational, grab a notepad and listen up. The 15th Annual Gilbert Water Festival is tapping into the collective spirit of the town, and it needs volunteers. The festival, which splashes down on February 24 and 25, is a bona fide chance for fourth-graders to dive headfirst into the world of water conservation and sustainability, all while having a good time.
With more than 1,600 students soaking up knowledge last year, it's no small feat to put on this festival. Set to take place at the Gilbert Civic Center, from a sprightly 7 a.m. to an educational 2:30 p.m., the event hinges on the support of volunteers to guide these young minds through interactive lessons and, let's be honest, to keep the chaos somewhat contained. According to a release from the Town of Gilbert, volunteers, both newbies and veterans, are what make this event float.
Thinking of volunteering? First-timers must complete mandatory training. Mark your calendar for February 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Gilbert Public Works, Room 158. And don’t worry about going hungry—volunteers will be provided with breakfast, snacks, and lunch during the festival. So, while you're helping to educate young minds, you'll stay fueled up too.
Anyone interested in helping can sign up to teach kids about the water cycle and how to protect our planet. "Thank you for your support in making the Gilbert Water Festival a fun and educational experience for our local students," says the Town of Gilbert.
