Weiers is taking a stand against the blood shortage left in the wake of the holiday season by hosting his 7th Annual Mayor's Blood Drive, a vital community event set for today, aiming to replenish much-needed blood supplies in partnership with Vitalant, a non-profit blood service provider, the city's drive welcomes all eligible donors to the Glendale Civic Center – Crowne Ballroom from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., in efforts to combat the current need for blood donations, highlighted in an announcement by the City of Glendale.
The plea for donors comes with the call to action from Mayor Weiers himself, "Because this is our 7th Annual Blood Drive, we have learned lot over the years to make this life-saving opportunity as convenient and rewarding as possible," and additionally stressing the importance of understanding the need to donate blood, as noted in the city's release; if you've been previously barred from donating, it's worth checking eligibility again as guidelines may have changed, more information can be found on the "Eligibility Requirements" page on Vitalant's website.
