
A devastating episode unfolded in Gwinnett County, as authorities report the arrest of a 54-year-old man, Johnny Mays Blackshear Jr., in connection with a deadly shooting that stemmed from a domestic dispute. According to a press release issued by Gwinnett County Police Department, the suspect, Blackshear, faces multiple charges including malice murder and aggravated assault; he's currently held at the Gwinnett County Jail.
The altercation, which tragically ended the life of 26-year-old Jordan Calloway from Duluth, Blackshear's stepson, shook the community located around Venture Parkway and Market Street. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m., drawing law enforcement to the site where they found Calloway wounded from a gunshot, despite officers' efforts to save him, he passed away after being transported to the hospital, the Gwinnett County police were quick to secure the scene and commence their investigation, interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence.
In the course of their investigation, detectives identified Blackshear as the suspect and collaborated with the Walton County Sheriff's Office, resulting in Blackshear being stopped in his vehicle and taken into custody without resistance. The Gwinnett County authorities publicly acknowledged the support from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office in apprehending the suspect.
The community reels from this tragic occurrence, a stark reminder of the perils intertwined with domestic conflicts, the details surrounding the incident remain scarce, however, detectives are continuing to canvas the area, as crime scene investigators delve deeper and the Medical Examiner's Office has been engaged, all in an effort to unravel the circumstances that led to Calloway's untimely demise.
