Constables in Harris County took Thelma Reyes into custody following a minor traffic collision yesterday in the 22600 block of Windbourne Drive due to suspicions of her driving under the influence—marking her third such offense. Reyes was the driver responsible for the mishap.
Deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office noted that Reyes displayed clear signs of inebriation, yet she refused to complete the standardized field sobriety tests. On top of this, a deeper look into Reyes' record unearthed two open warrants for Driving While Intoxicated—one in Harris County and another in Montgomery County—as well as two prior convictions for similar offenses, one of which involved a child under 15 in the vehicle.
The Facebook page of Constable Mark Herman's Office detailed the arrest: "Thelma Reyes was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the two open warrants and charged with Driving While Intoxicated 3rd Offense." However, at this time, Reyes' bond and court appearances have not been established.
This persistent issue of recurring DWI offenders poses a significant challenge to local law enforcement and community safety. Reyes' arrest underlines the critical nature of diligence and enforcement in combating such repeat violations.
