In DeSoto County this past Saturday, a reckless driving incident escalated into a high-speed pursuit as two men attempted to evade law enforcement officers. The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office, along with the Hernando Police Department, were involved in the chase, which began near the intersection of Highway 61 and Stateline Road and ended near I-55 and I-269, according to Action News 5.
At the crux of the pursuit was 23-year-old Kylan Tillmon, the driver, who, after being beckoned to stop for reckless driving, instead led deputies on a chase that concluded with him discarding his pistol and fleeing on foot. His passenger, 18-year-old Jaylyn Jones, was detained by authorities at the site of the halted vehicle. In their bid to apprehend Tillmon, deputies deployed both a drone and a K-9 unit, as reported by Dark Horse Press.
Subsequently, both men were arrested and faced charges set by the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office. "Jones is charged with disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $250," as noted by Action News 5. Tillmon's charges included disorderly conduct, drug paraphernalia with a firearm, felony fleeing law enforcement officers, and reckless driving, with his bond amounting to $16,750. Despite the gravity of the allegations laid before them, both Tillmon and Jones were able to secure release on bond last Sunday.
