
On a recent Sunday evening in Holyoke, Massachusetts, Police Chief Brian Keenan announced a significant development in an apprehension involving an illegal firearm and two arrests. During a disturbance call on Chestnut Street, officers intercepted a vehicle, inside which they found Shyloe Harris, Michael Bedinelli, and a minor; Harris was allegedly using a firearm to threaten, as reported by the Holyoke Police Department on Facebook.
The traffic stop that ensued at around 5:30 p.m. witnessed the occupants of the vehicle—Harris, Bedinelli, and the juvenile—being taken out of the car it was during the ensuing search that officers discovered a loaded firearm tucked into Bedinelli's pants, leading to his and Harris's arrest, while the juvenile involved was released back to his mother. According to the official Facebook post from the Holyoke Police Department, Harris was charged for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and threat to commit a crime; Bedinelli faces multiple firearms-related charges.
Chief Keenan praised the officers' performance in his statement, asserting, “Both these suspects are well-known in Springfield, and I applaud our officers for de-escalating a dangerous situation, seizing an illegal firearm and taking these suspects into custody.” His emphasis on community safety was clear—illegal firearms and the harm they can engender will not be tolerated in Holyoke, as per the Holyoke Police Department.
Twenty-five-year-old Michael Bedinelli faces multiple charges, including the possession of a firearm without an FID Card carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and more, while Shyloe Harris, aged 24, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and threatening to commit a crime; Chief Keenan affirmed the department's commitment to ensuring such events are dealt with swiftly and with the utmost professionalism, all in the service of preventing further harm within their community.
