Following a prompt community response and swift use of technology, Indianapolis police apprehended a suspect in a shooting investigation just hours after the incident occurred. Detectives arrested 36-year-old Jeremy McBride for his involvement in a shooting that injured a pregnant woman on Sunday evening, according to a Facebook post by IMPD News. Tragically, despite timely medical attention, the unborn child did not survive.

It was around 6:00 p.m. when IMPD Southeast District officers arrived at the 700 block of E Pleasant Run Pkwy Drive N, following a report of a person shot. Inside a residence, the officers found the wounded woman, who was rushed to a local hospital and is expected to survive. Carrying the burden of grief and prompt law enforcement duties, officers were informed by several in the community about a lead pointing to McBride as the possible suspect.

Evidence collected at the scene and the narratives provided by community members helped the detectives to identify McBride's connection with the crime quickly. Armed with information about McBride’s vehicle, officers used license-plate-reader (LPR) technology to locate the car on E Raymond Street. A traffic stop was executed, leading to McKinley's peaceful arrest, where a firearm was also recovered from the vehicle.

Deputy Chief Kendale Adams, acknowledging the devastating loss and bravery of the wounded, remarked on the case, “This is truly a tragic incident, and I extend my sincerest condolences to all of those affected.” Adams praised the rapid apprehension, "The quick apprehension of this suspect is a testament to the invaluable information provided by our community members, the determination of our officers, and the diligent investigative work of our detectives," as quoted by IMPD News.

Following the interrogation of McBride at the City County Building, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case to decide on the final charges. Until then, McBride, who was arrested for Attempted Murder, remains merely an accused individual with the legal presumption of innocence intact until proven guilty. More updates will follow as this highly-charged case continues to unfold in the judicial process.
