Jubilation and heritage will soon intertwine in Jefferson Parish as it gears up to celebrate a double dose of festivities marked by the 'Kick-off to Carnival' Bicentennial Celebration. The event is slated to launch the 2025 Mardi Gras season while simultaneously commemorating the Parish's 200 years of history on February 11, from 5 to 7 p.m., located at the Lakeside Shopping Center under the Veterans Skylight, hosting live beats from The Jay Walkers Second Line band. Jefferson Parish officials shared their enthusiasm for the dual occasion—giving a nod to the customary Krewes which embody the region's rich culture and traditions.
"We are excited about kicking off our 2025 Carnival Season on our Bicentennial birthday, and we are encouraging the entire community to join us as we recognize our rich 200-year history and celebrate all Jefferson Parish has to offer," said Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, celebrating the fusion of unity and legacy. The occasion is reflective of the Mardi Gras spirit that thrives on unity and revelry while paying homage to the enduring legacy of Jefferson Parish. The Parish's 2025 Mardi Gras festivities unveil with 12 parades, alternating between the east and west bank, retracing the traditional route of east on Veterans Boulevard—a recent reveal by Jefferson Parish announcement detailed. Initiating with Little Rascals on February 16, the sequence includes notable Krewes such as Excalibur, MadHatters, and Atlas, with the final acts being Krewe of Argus and Elks Krewe of Jeffersonians wrapping up the season on March 4.
