In response to former State Representative Lisa Reynolds' December departure, Washington and Multnomah county commissioners will select a new representative for Oregon's House District 34. The meeting is set on January 15, at 6:30 p.m. Oregon law requires the replacement to be from the same political party (Democratic) and have been a party member for at least 180 days, according to the Washington County.
The Oregon Democratic Party has three nominees for a replacement: Alexandria Goddard, Mari Watanabe, and Sarah Beachy. A decision-making meeting will be held virtually via Zoom, where the public can watch and participate. Written comments on the nominees can be submitted to Washington County Clerk Kevin Moss until noon on January 13, as reported by the Washington County.
Washington County is holding a meeting where public comments can be made by filling out a form on their website. The meeting can be joined via Zoom or watched live on YouTube. More details about the nominees and appointment process are available on the websites of both Washington and Multnomah County Boards of Commissioners.
