
A tragic incident unfolded on Friday near Hardin Valley Road in Knox County where a 16-year-old lost their life in a car crash, as confirmed by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. WVLT-TV reported the teenager was alone in the vehicle when the car, a 2015 Acura, veered off the road after attempting to pass another vehicle and struck a traffic signal post.
The crash occurred on Ball Camp Byington Road around 7:30 p.m., indicating the teen was driving northbound trying to overtake another car, but upon reaching the intersection with Hardin Valley Road, the Acura left the road and made its fatal collision.
According to details from WATE, the vehicle came to rest at the right edge of the road after the impact. It was also revealed that the teen was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The severity of the injuries sustained resulted in the teenager's death at the scene.
Further information provided by WBIR stated that the young driver had been traversing the road known as State Route 131 and Ball Camp Byington Road. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities have not released any additional details regarding potential factors that contributed to the crash at this time.
