A Sunday afternoon altercation at Knoxville's Riverview Park Apartments escalated into gunfire, resulting in the hospitalization of a 20-year-old man, according to local authorities. The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) responded to the incident, where they discovered several vehicles damaged by bullets and numerous shell casings, according to WVLT.

The injured man, whose identity has not been disclosed, sought treatment at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, arriving not in an ambulance, but in a personal car. "At this time, it is believed that multiple individuals were involved in the shooting and that it potentially stemmed from an ongoing personal dispute," a KPD spokesperson shared, as stated by WATE. No arrests have been made to date, and officers continue to piece together the narrative of what transpired on River Maple Way.
The call initially came in around 2:40 p.m. on Sunday, drawing law enforcement to the area of River Maple Way and Holston Hills Road. It was there in the parking lot that they came upon the evidence of the shootout. "While officers were on that scene, they were notified that the male victim had arrived at the UT Medical Center in a personal vehicle," KPD elaborated in a press release, stressing, that the injuries were non-life-threatening, as WBIR detailed.
The incident, which KPD believes could be the result of an "ongoing personal dispute," remains under active investigation, as per WATE.
