The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has expanded the ongoing rehabilitation project on the Evangeline Thruway in Lafayette Parish. The project includes concrete pavement patching, asphalt paving, and other improvements to enhance the road’s condition and better serve travelers.
According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), work is scheduled primarily at night, from Monday to Thursday 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. On weekends, extended shifts will run from Friday evening to early Monday morning, weather permitting. Drivers should expect alternating double lane closures during the project, which will involve pavement repairs, dowel bar installation, and other tasks.
A 12-foot width restriction will be in place during construction, but emergency vehicles will be allowed through. The first phase of the project covered the section between the railroad junction and East Pinhook Road. The second phase will focus on U.S. 90 from La. 92 (Young Street) to La. 88 (Coteau Road), according to the announcement.
The project is expected to be completed by late spring. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development encourages drivers to use caution in the area and stay updated on construction details through MyDOTD and the 511 Traveler Information system, available via the website, mobile app, or phone.
