In an incident that turned into a rapid law enforcement response, Lake County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a woman following an attempted gas station robbery on New Year's Day. Reports confirmed that deputies were dispatched to the scene at a gas station on North Route 83 after a robbery report was called in around midday.
A female suspect, later identified as Christina A. Lintner, 40, implied possession of a firearm though none was presented, and proceeded to demand cash from the clerk, who greatly refused; the suspect then made an unsuccessful attempt to pry open the cash register but fled in a black SUV when her attempts fell through according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office. The deputies at the scene leveraged Flock license plate reader technology to get a bead on the vehicle and collaborated with nearby law enforcement, leading to the swift apprehension of Lintner.
Gurnee Police Officers located Lintner's vehicle after receiving a countywide alert and were already conducting a traffic stop when Lake County Sheriff's Deputies arrived at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Hunt Club Road to make the arrest. The Lake County State's Attorney's Office has since charged Lintner with Attempt Aggravated Robbery, a class 2 felony, and she faced her first court appearance this morning to determine if she will be detained until trial.
Sheriff John D. Idleburg lauded the rapid and effective response, stating, "Through diligent work and collaboration, our deputies tracked down and apprehended an offender who posed a threat to others. I’m proud of everyone involved—our telecommunicators who issued the alert, our deputies who investigated, and our law enforcement partners who helped locate this offender."
As with all legal proceedings, Lintner is presumed innocent until proven otherwise. With the case ongoing, further details may emerge as the judicial process unfolds.
