Last Sunday evening, Las Cruces Police were called to a residence on the 4000 Block of Gila Trail, where a local couple was found dead in what has been described as a murder-suicide scenario. Officers discovered the bodies at approximately 7:45 p.m., according to the City of Las Cruces.
The couple, identified as Dennis Wyatts, 77, and Renate Wyatts, 83, appeared to have died from gunshot wounds. The preliminary investigation led law enforcement to preliminarily deduce a grim picture, Mr. Wyatts fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. The circumstances surrounding the incident have yet to fully unravel, as the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities have yet to release detailed information about the motivation behind the incident or any preceding events possibly connected to this tragedy.
