In a move that showcases a dedication to the youth of their community, the City of Las Cruces and the Las Cruces Public Schools have unveiled a new collaboration. The "Thrive with Cariño" initiative is set to honor students who not only meet academic benchmarks but also exemplify commendable character, kindness, and community spirit.
Blending the ethos of the school district's "Thrive" program and the city's "Cariño" initiative, which both highlight excellence and community care respectively, "Thrive with Cariño" is more than a pat on the back. It's a recognition of the young individuals who are shaping the future of Las Cruces with their actions. According to the City of Las Cruces, starting in February, the city will shine a light on personalities in our local schools that inspire their peers and teachers alike.
Selected students from Booker T. Washington Elementary, Hermosa Heights Elementary, Lynn Middle School, and Centennial High School will be the first to be recognized under the program. These students are set to receive certificates and will have their achievements amplified through social media and special t-shirts donned as badges of honor. The Mayor of Las Cruces and the Superintendent of Las Cruces Public Schools will be in attendance to honor these students, solidifying the joint commitment and vision of the partnership.
