The community of Lemon Grove is grappling with the ramifications of a violent act that has robbed them of one Darron Willie Singleton Jr., a 23-year-old African American resident whose life was abruptly ended by gunfire. Hoodline News previously reported that the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department found Singleton with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso following reports of gunfire on the 2200 block of Dain Ct. around 11 p.m.
In a turn of events, the San Diego Sheriff’s Office has taken into custody a third suspect implicated in this fatal shooting. The San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 45-year-old Valena Marie Gonzales of San Diego. She was booked into Las Colinas Detention Facility, and her charges include Aiding and Abetting in the murder of Singleton Jr., this all taking place near Valley Road and Rio Drive in San Diego, as revealed by the San Diego Sheriff’s Office.
The investigations are intense, aimed at uncovering the narrative that led to Singleton's death and discerning the reasons why this young man met such a violent end. Hoodline News remarks that despite the quick response from deputies and the San Miguel Fire Department, Singleton was declared dead at the scene, and the autopsy confirmed the cause of death as homicide from gunshot wounds.
