The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has identified Officer Cesar Ibarra, 48, as the policeman involved in a fatal shooting in Boulder City on Friday. Officer Ibarra, a member of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since 2005 and currently assigned to the Homeland Security Division, Airport Bureau, has been placed on routine paid administrative leave, the department's standard procedure while an investigation is conducted, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's official announcement.
An earlier report by Hoodline details that the incident unfolded as an off-duty Ibarra and his wife became aware of an altercation in a neighbor's backyard, the off-duty officer stepped in to de-escalate a physical confrontation between a man and a woman, guiding the woman out of harm’s way, subsequently, his wife called 911, however, the situation escalated when the man pursued them and ignored verbal warnings, culminating in the couple discharging their firearms and the man succumbing to his injuries at the scene.
