Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido and 91 assistant prosecutors were sworn in for a new term at a ceremony at the Macomb County Administration Building. Local judges, including Chief Judge James Biernat, Judge Joseph Toia, and Judge Sebastian Lucido, presided over the event, according to the Macomb County.
During his oath-taking ceremony, re-elected Prosecutor Lucido committed to justice, emphasizing teamwork, integrity, and public service. He called his staff the "backbone" of the office and pledged to uphold community values and a fair justice system. Reflecting on his rise from Macomb County, Lucido credited his team for improvements in warrant processing, digital case management, securing grants, enforcing child support, and reforming hiring practices.
Macomb County Prosecutor Lucido encouraged newly sworn-in assistant prosecutors to view their work as a commitment to serving the community, emphasizing the importance of protecting residents, ensuring accountability, and treating everyone fairly under the law. He urged them to approach their tasks with dedication and unity, reminding them that they are part of a larger story. He concluded with the words of Walt Whitman: "As the powerful play of life goes on, let us contribute a verse," as stated by the Macomb County.
