
An incident that prompted a safety alert in Oak Forest concluded tragically on Sunday afternoon when a man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Oak Forest police initially alerted the public to avoid the Food 4 Less parking lot at 159th Street and Central Avenue due to a possible armed suspect. Later, officers found the man inside a vehicle with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Residents were advised to stay clear of the area during the situation as police and emergency response teams worked to resolve the incident. FOX 32 Chicago reported that by approximately 4:00 p.m., an all-clear was issued by authorities. The situation had ended with no additional danger to the public.
