Collierville Fire & Rescue, amidst transitions in leadership, has officially named Mark Carter as the Assistant Chief of Fire Administration. These are boots to fill following the retirement of previous assistant chief Mark King. With a resume that includes handling diverse duties from budget development to project oversight, Carter has stepped up to the plate.
The Collierville press release detailed Carter's extensive history in roles of increasing responsibility and his propensity for administrative excellence. This record equipped him to effectively spearhead the launch and management of Collierville’s ambulance service in 2021.
Chief John Selberg expressed confidence in the selection, noting Carter's background in emergency medical services and applauding his readiness to assume further responsibilities. "Mark Carter has extensive experience as a Fire Officer and is well respected by his peers across the State," Selberg stated, as Collierville's press release detailed. "He is always willing to take on extra roles and responsibilities to support the Fire Department in any way possible."
Significant milestones mark Carter's professional journey. Before joining Collierville's forces, he was a firefighter/paramedic and an EMS Chief for Germantown Fire. He complemented his public service with stints as an Ambulance Sales Manager for G&W/EVS and an EMT instructor at Southwest Community College, which brought diverse skills and insights to his current role. As per Selberg, his transition into the Assistant Chief of Administration role is expected to be smooth, with limited operational interruptions.
