Big news for Goodyear, the nation's ninth fastest-growing city, as AC Hotels by Marriott has decided to chart a course and plant its flags right in the emerging downtown district known as GSQ. The modern European hotel brand, boasting an international presence, aims to keep its image polished by aligning with Goodyear's burgeoning development.
"We chose Goodyear for our AC by Marriott development because of its vibrant growth, welcoming community, and its position within a high-quality development that reflects our brand's values," BJ Patel, Senior Vice President of Baywood Hotels, shared with Goodyear's city news portal. The four-story hotel will grace the city with 135 contemporary rooms, and business-friendly amenities such as a lounge, bar, dining options, a business center, and an outdoor pool basking, in the Arizona sun. With plans for over 1,200 square feet of meeting space, it is destined to become a local hub for business events and smaller gatherings.
Goodyear's Mayor Joe Pizzillo couldn't contain his enthusiasm. "I could not be more excited that AC Hotels has chosen to come to Goodyear," he told Goodyear's city news portal, eyeing the prospect of new jobs and a diversified local economy. The city, currently carving out its new downtown reputation, expects this venture to bolster both the commercial and cultural appeal of the area.
Behind the scenes, Globe Corp. is teaming up with the city in a public-private partnership, bringing the GSQ vision to life. "What is making GSQ successful is the lineup of one-of-a-kind businesses that we are working carefully to attract," co-CEO George Getz elucidated, sowing seeds of interest in prospects. AC Hotels, according to the city's announcement, appears to be a landmark catch that could energize the atmosphere, turning the 150 acres of planned premium dining, shopping, and residential space into an attractive hotspot.
Set to throw open its doors towards the end of 2026, this AC Hotels branch doesn't merely aim to dot the i's on the local map — it's bringing about 30 permanent positions, augmenting Goodyear's ever-evolving workforce.
