A tragic shooting has left one man dead in North Memphis, where a son is alleged to have shot his father, according to multiple reports. The incident took place at a local apartment complex and has authorities calling it a case of domestic violence.
24-year-old Cedric Blue Jr. was charged with first-degree murder after the Memphis Police Department responded to a shooting just after 9 p.m. on Monday, as Local Memphis reported. An affidavit acquired by FOX13 states that the suspect called 911 and stated, "I just shot my dad," which is the call that presumably brought the officers to the scene. The victim, later identified as Cedric Blue Sr., was found deceased with multiple gunshot wounds.
According to witness statements in court documents, an argument escalated when the senior Blue asked his son to leave the premises. Subsequently, Blue Jr. is reported to have picked up a handgun and initiated the fatal incident. In the aftermath, Blue Jr. attempted to evade arrest on foot and is accused of hiding two guns behind a bush in front of the building, as described by a witness in the affidavit covered by Action News 5.
Blue Jr. now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, evading arrest on foot, and tampering with evidence. He is currently held on a $1 million bond, Action News 5 reports. Details surrounding the argument and the shooting are still under investigation, and Memphis Police have urged anyone with more information to come forward by contacting CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
